Marcus Eley brings to AFM Local 47 a career shaped by artistry, advocacy, and leadership. As a clarinetist, he has performed internationally as a soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist, while championing the works of African American composers. His dedication to amplifying underrepresented voices in classical music reflects a lifelong commitment to cultural equity and artistic excellence.
Beyond the stage, Eley has distinguished himself as an educator, administrator, and union leader. His experience includes service as a SAG-AFTRA Strike Captain, Woodwind Coach at John Burroughs High School in Burbank, Marketing and Artist Relations Specialist at Rico International, Associate Producer for Sundays Live! at LACMA, and Live Performance Business Representative for Local 47. A member in good standing of both AFM Local 47 and SAG-AFTRA, Eley’s record demonstrates not only artistic distinction but also a proven ability to lead, organize, and inspire — qualities he is prepared to bring to the role of Director.
