The Officers and Board of AFM Local 47 are devastated by the effects of this terrible tragedy on the people of Los Angeles and on our musical community. We will continue to provide information on resources for assistance as we face the long-term effects of this catastrophe.

Meetings & Events
- Eaton Fire Lawsuit Webinar: Friday, February 14, 12-1 p.m. – presented in collaboration with the Motion Picture Television Fund. Learn what you need to know about the case against Southern California Edison and the January wildfires in this informational webinar. We will cover your legal rights and what to know before you hire a lawyer, with legal experts discussing the factors involved and taking your questions. Speakers will include Amanda Riddle, Esq. and Mike Kelly, Esq., moderated by Sharon Siefert, MPTF Vice President, Legal Affairs.
- Fire Assistance Resources Distribution in Pasadena: Friday, February 21, 9:30am – 5pm. Location: Location: SEIU Local 121RN, 1040 Lincoln Ave, Pasadena. Distributing air purifiers, feminine care products, diapers, box of food (feeds family of five for one week). Parking provided.
- A Day of Recovery & Resilience: Saturday, February 22, 10am – 4pm – (RSVP required) Location: The SoLa Beehive, 1000 E. 60th St., Los Angeles 90008. The SoLa Foundation, It’s Bigger Than Us and partners are coming together to create a unique day of wellness, self care, resources and fun for more than 750 families impacted by the L.A. Fire. Together, we will heal the body and the mind, build community and resilience – all at no cost to impacted families with transportation provided. (To volunteer, click here)

L.A. Disaster Relief Navigator – Better Angels, in partnership with ImagineLA and the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles, has developed the L.A. Disaster Relief Navigator, an online tool to help Angelenos impacted by the wildfires effectively navigate the many resources available to them. Musical Instrument & Work Attire Replacement
- Altadena Musicians – registry where musicians can list gear lost in the L.A. fires – and donors can help to replace them through gifting or purchasing directly
- FEMA Help for Self-Employed and Artists – information on replacing musical instruments and occupational tools including computers and other equipment
- Fender CA Wildfire Relief – instrument & gear replacement
- FreeConcertClothing.org – This clothing co-op offers free pre-loved, gently used concert clothing, shoes and accessories from concert tails, tuxedos, concert black attire and evening gowns
- Guitar Center Music Foundation – grants available for those who have lost musical instruments/equipment in the fires
Financial Assistance & Grants
- AFM Local 47 Relief Fund (for Local 47 members) – emergency financial assistance is available for AFM Local 47 members impacted by the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires who have suffered total loss of residence, or whose residence is currently uninhabitable
- AFM Emergency Relief Fund (for AFM members) – available to AFM members who have suffered major losses as a result of natural disasters in impacted areas designated by FEMA as Federal Disaster Areas for Individual Assistance
- California Employment Development Department (EDD) – the standard one-week waiting period to apply has been waived for individuals who lost their job due to the SoCal fires
- California Fire Foundation – Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency (SAVE) – $250 for eligible survivors of fire and natural disasters
- California Jazz Foundation – grants available to CA musicians w/ at least 5 years of primary employment as a jazz artist
- Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI) grants – artists Individuals may apply once for up to $10,000; accepting applications through February 18
- Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) LA Region Small Business and Worker Relief Funds – applications for small businesses, nonprofits, and workers will open early February 2025
- DisasterAssistance.gov – help to apply for FEMA disaster assistance
- Entertainment Community Fund – offers a wide array of resources available to musicians and anyone who works in the arts, including financial assistance

- Foundation for Contemporary Artists – available for visual and performing artists; grants range from $500 to $3,000

- Newport Festivals Musician Relief Funds – emergency grants to musicians, crews, and industry folks
- SONA Songwriter Fund – $500 emergency grants for songwriters and composers
- Sound Royalties Wildfire Relief Program – no-cost, no-fee royalty advance of up to $50,000 to support music creatives and royalty rights holders impacted in those areas
- Sweet Musicians Relief Fund – for musicians and music industry workers impacted by the fires for loss of music-related equipment, medical bills related to the event, and other vital-living expenses
- Union Plus Disaster Relief Grants (for union members) – up to $500 available to eligible Union Plus program participants
- We Are Moving the Needle – microgrants available for producers, engineers and creators, from $100 to $1,000 offered on sliding scale depending on need; support is aimed at those whose livelihoods and careers have been significantly impacted by loss of a studio, gear, or other critical infrastructure related to your career in audio
Studio/Rehearsal Space
- The REEF (DTLA) – up to 6 months of free space to those displaced by the wildfires
- Studio/rehearsal space in Burbank (for Local 47 members) – AFM Local 47 member David Arana is offering his home studio space in Burbank to fellow members impacted by the 2025 wildfires who need a place to rehearse or record (grand piano available)
- Studio/rehearsal space in San Pedro (for Local 47 members) – AFM Local 47 member Tamer Maamoun is offering his home studio space in San Pedro to fellow members impacted by the 2025 wildfires
Resources for Arts Organizations
Free Space Rentals for Displaced Arts Organizations – the Music Center, in collaboration with LA Opera and LA Phil, is offering free work and rehearsal spaces on its campus including the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Open to all L.A. County-based arts and cultural organizations, collectives and groups displaced by the wildfires. First-come, first-served through April 30, 2025, with a potential extension based on need.

- Hotel Association of Los Angeles – providing lodging for thousands of impacted Angelenos, often at discounted rates; many accept pets
- Jewish Free Loan Association (JFLA) Wildfire Relief Loans – JFLA is offering zero-interest, zero-fee loans to people of all faiths and backgrounds, including: Individuals and families, small businesses, and non-profits
- LA Fed / Labor Community Services (for union members) – assistance with first and last-month rent, mortgage help, utilities assistance, finding permanent & long-term housing, food assistance, and natural disaster relief
- Misfortune and Calamity Property Tax Relief – tax reassessment available for property damage/loss exceeding $10,000

By law, FEMA cannot duplicate benefits you receive from another source (advice we have received is: do not include specific language saying funds are for rebuilding, but rather use general language that funds are for getting by with essential needs)
