Lynn Grants, Pasadena Symphony Delegate to the Regional Orchestra Players Association (ROPA), provides a report on the 2026 conference.  

The 2026 ROPA  Conference, held this year from July 28th-30th in Dallas, Texas brought together Delegates from most of the 94 full and adjunct member orchestras across the country to share information, learn new strategies for the growth and health of our orchestras, support our fellow Union musicians, and strengthen and expand our AFM.  

ROPA also holds a whole-day pre-Conference workshop devoted to CBA negotiation as well as a wonderful Conference lineup of speakers on a range of  timely topics, including social media and AI.  

Congratulations to Jane Owen on winning this year’s Nathan Kahn Award for her years of service on behalf of her fellow musicians, and a huge Thank You to the Dallas-Ft Worth Opera Orchestra and Musicians Association AFM Local 72-147 for hosting the 2026 Conference.
