Students from Los Angeles Awarded 2026 Music Family Scholarships
Three students connected to members of AFM Local 47 in Los Angeles, California, have been named recipients of the 2026 Music Family Scholarship from the recording industry’s Music Performance Trust Fund (MPTF).
This year’s recipients connected to Local 47 are:
- Cassidy Walther
- Kai Wright
- Olive Petty
“As someone striving to make a change in the music industry and continue the legacy that my parents have created for me, I am truly grateful for this scholarship and the American Federation of Musicians,” stated Kai Wright, child of an AFM Local 47 member and recipient of a Music Family Scholarship. “Thank you for helping me take this next step.”
The Music Family Scholarship supports the children of American Federation of Musicians members as they pursue Higher education.
In 2026, MPTF awarded $181,500 in scholarships to 135 students through its Music Family and Music’s Future scholarship programs. Music Family Scholarship recipients represented AFM Locals throughout the United States and Canada.

The Music Performance Trust Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public service organization funded by the recording industry. MPTF supports admission-free live music, music education and employment opportunities for professional musicians throughout the United States and Canada.
