Renowned studio trumpet player Tony Terran, the last surviving member of the I Love Lucy show orchestra, died in Los Angeles at age 90. As a session musician Terran was regarded as one of the most versatile trumpet players in the music business, and had an impact on the Los Angeles music scene for more than four decades as a specialist of many musical styles. He was part of the Wrecking Crew, which was a group of session musicians in Los Angeles that earned wide acclaim in the 1960s. Elvin Lloyd Myers Jr., 68 of La Verne, California, died March 1, 2017. He was born in Texas, the only child of Elvin and Mildred Rogers Myers. He attended Brown Military Academy in San Diego and graduated from Montclair High School. He studied home building and remodeling at Cal Poly Pomona university, and other subjects at Mt. San Antonio College, Yale University, and Citrus College. Elvin Lloyd was a gifted musician, licensed general contractor, beloved dance instructor, great friend to many, beloved family member, and a loving son. Continue reading

Musician Dan Mark passed away on January 5, 2017, after many years of suffering from grave health problems. He is survived by his first wife Sally Gordon-Mark, his son Tony Mark, his daughter-in-law Jennifer, his granddaughter Justine, his second wife, Margie Sisco Mark and his step-daughter Sabrina.

Born on July 14, 1946 in North Hollywood, CA, he remained there most of his life, residing later in Studio City and then West Hollywood. He attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California and pursued higher studies later in life at UCLA. Continue reading

Herb developed a love of music throughout his life. An early friendship with Eddie Daniels continued to inspire Herb as he played bass in the Newport Youth Band and was hired in the Catskills Hotel house band with drummer Steve Schaeffer, who later joined Herb with Sarah Vaughn. By this time, Herb had concentrated his interest in jazz, having completed his first road trip to England with Peter Nero. Continue reading

Andreas “Andy” Kostelas was born on November 10, 1924 to immigrant Greek parents, George and Mary. Andy grew up with two siblings in Sedalia, Missouri where he began his study of the clarinet as a student He began his professional career at age 16 where he performed at several local watering holes and dance establishments.
