AFM members joined more than 300 on a picket line in Playa Vista today in support of SAG-AFTRA interactive video game voice actors who have been on strike since Oct. 21.
As reported by Variety:
The performers union launched the strike Friday against EA and 10 other videogame makers after negotiations cratered over the key issues of secondary compensation (residuals) and transparency — meaning that the union wants companies to stop being able to hire without identifying the game. Carteris noted that the talks lasted 19 months before collapsing last week.
The strike order reads as follows: “The National Board of Directors instructs all SAG-AFTRA members to withhold performing services and auditioning for work under the Interactive Media Agreement with respect to struck games for the following struck employers effective midnight of October 21, 2016.”
