They blazed a trail for the modern free-spirited American women of the twenty-first century. Born Mary Florence Cecilia Egan (1897-1966), and nicknamed \u201cBabe,\u201d she hailed from a Seattle, Washington family of newspaper reporters and entrepreneurs. The Roaring Twenties were roaring, America voted dry and drank wet. Flappers, speakeasies, and bathtub gin surged society forward during Prohibition.
