{"id":7658,"date":"2020-08-18T10:32:40","date_gmt":"2020-08-18T17:32:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.afm47.org\/press\/?p=7658"},"modified":"2020-08-18T10:44:24","modified_gmt":"2020-08-18T17:44:24","slug":"take-action-now-to-ensure-law-enforcement-integrity-and-accountability-sb-731","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/afm47.org\/press\/take-action-now-to-ensure-law-enforcement-integrity-and-accountability-sb-731\/","title":{"rendered":"Take Action Now to Ensure Law Enforcement Integrity and Accountability: SB 731"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AFM Local 47 has been proud to be part of a sustained effort by the entertainment community to support the Black community through advocacy for policies addressing racial injustice.&nbsp;The California Legislature is considering a critical bill, SB 731 introduced by Senator Steve Bradford, which will implement an effective system to revoke an officer\u2019s certification based on criminal conviction and certain acts of serious misconduct, and will also reinstate the original objective of California\u2019s civil rights law (the \u201cBane Act\u201d) to properly protect the rights of all California citizens.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los Angeles-area state Assemblymembers are crucial to the bill\u2019s advancing, not only because of our strong presence as a community in the area but also to the overall political equation. Time is of the essence. <strong>We have a very limited window&nbsp;in the next two days<\/strong>&nbsp;to demonstrate our support for the bill to legislators and to ensure it advances in the
