The American Society of Music Arrangers and Composers is proud to announce him as an\u00a0honoree at the 2017 ASMAC Golden Score Awards, along with his <em>Love Boat-<\/em>theme collaborator, composer\/arranger <strong>CHARLES FOX.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The event takes place<strong> Sunday, December 3, 2017<\/strong>, 5 p.m. at the Hilton Universal City Hotel.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Paul Williams first made his name with such chart-topping hits as &#8220;We\u2019ve Only Just Begun,&#8221; &#8220;Rainy Days and Mondays,&#8221;\u00a0and\u00a0&#8220;I Won\u2019t Last a Day Without You&#8221;\u00a0by The Carpenters, although prior to that he\u2019d had a song covered by Tiny Tim, that was the B-side to &#8220;Tiptoe Through the Tulips,&#8221; and was also covered by the late David Bowie\u00a0on his <em>Hunky Dory <\/em>album (1971). Along with Roger Nichols, he wrote &#8220;An Old Fashioned Love Song,&#8221; &#8220;The Family of Man,&#8221; and &#8220;Out in the Country,&#8221; all major hits for Three Dog Night, and with Kenny Ascher and Helen Reddy on their\u00a01974 Top 10 hit &#8220;You and Me Against the World.&#8221;<em>\u00a0<\/em>Williams\u00a0and Ascher also scored big with the now classic &#8220;The Rainbow Connection&#8221;\u00a0from <em>The Muppet Movie<\/em>\u00a0(1979). Williams\u00a0also acts and is best known for his role as Swan in\u00a0<em>Phantom of the Paradise<\/em>\u00a0(1974) and as Burt Reynold&#8217;s\u00a0sidekick in <em>Smokey and the Bandit<\/em>\u00a0(1977). He has voiced many animated characters including Penguin in <em>The New Batman Adventures<\/em>.\u00a0President of ASCAP, he has been active in the fight for songwriters against copyright infringement.<\/p>\n<p>Charles Fox\u00a0composed music for such classic TV shows as <em>What&#8217;s My Line?, Love American Style, Happy Days,<\/em> and <em>Laverne &amp; Shirley<\/em>, to name a few<strong><em>,<\/em><\/strong> and films like<em> Barbarella, Foul Play, <\/em>and<em> Nine to Five.\u00a0<\/em>He is a Songwriters Hall of Fame Inductee with such credits as &#8220;Killing Me Softly With His Song,&#8221; &#8220;I\u2019ve Got a Name,&#8221;\u00a0and\u00a0&#8220;Ready To Take a Chance Again.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4409\" src=\"https:\/\/afm47.org\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/giacchino-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/afm47.org\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/giacchino-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/afm47.org\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/giacchino-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/afm47.org\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/giacchino-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/afm47.org\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/giacchino-624x416.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Michael Giacchino to host, with special guests including\u00a0Jack Jones, Calabria Foti and Mervyn Warren<\/h3>\n<p>Hosting this year\u2019s Academy Awards of Film and TV music is 2014 honoree <strong>MICHAEL GIACCHINO<\/strong>, who composed the score for Disney Pixar\u2019s latest animated sensation, <i>Coco<\/i>, already being hailed as one of the year\u2019s best. Since his breakout film score for <em>The Incredibles<\/em>, Giacchino\u00a0has become one of the most beloved Hollywood film composers with his scores for <em>Up, <\/em>which garnered him an Academy Award in 2009, <em>Ratatouille, Cars 2, Star Trek, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Zootopia, Spider-Man: Homecoming,<\/em> and\u00a0many more. He was also the composer on the hit TV series <em>Lost,<\/em> as well as on all of the subsequent documentaries.<\/p>\n<p>Among the scheduled performers is two-time Grammy winner<strong> JACK JONES<\/strong>, who sang the <em>Love Boat<\/em> theme; Grammy-winning vocalist\u00a0<strong>MERVYN WARREN<\/strong>,\u00a0formerly of Take 6; violinist\/Jazz vocalist\u00a0<strong>CALABRIA FOTI<\/strong>; as well as some surprises.
