Throughout his astounding career, Domino sold over 65 million records whose hits hits include \u201cBlueberry Hill,\u201d \u201cAin\u2019t That a Shame,\u201d \u201cI\u2019m Walkin\u2019 \u201d and his version of \u201cMy Blue Heaven.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>His remarkable abilities on the piano proved that the instrument had as vital a place in rock \u2019n\u2019 roll as the guitar. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Domino died Oct. 24, 2017, at 89.<\/em><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Remembering Fats<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_4329\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4329\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4329\" src=\"https:\/\/afm47.org\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/fats-is-back-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/afm47.org\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/fats-is-back-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/afm47.org\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/fats-is-back-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/afm47.org\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/fats-is-back-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/afm47.org\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/fats-is-back-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/afm47.org\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/fats-is-back-624x624.jpg 624w, https:\/\/afm47.org\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/fats-is-back.jpg 1232w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-4329\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Domino\u2019s 1968 album \u201cFats is Back\u201d includes his renditions of Beatles songs \u201cLovely Rita\u201d and \u201cLady Madonna,\u201d recorded in Los Angeles in 1965.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I\u2019m very saddened by the passing of Fats Domino. Local 47 was chosen by Fats and his producers to hire myself and a few members of our Local to record a few of his earliest major hits. While filming one of his early rock and roll films in New York, Fats realized that, while coming back to Hollywood to do a few pickup shots for his film, he still needed several more songs for one of his early albums started in New York. In between these pickup shots, we recorded some of his early hits.<\/p>\n<p>I never realized that I would someday become a rock and roll brother inducted into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with Fats and so many others.<\/p>\n<p>Rest in peace Fats, your legacy will live on forever and I humbly thank you for the opportunity to be a part of that legacy and our AF of M Local 47 brotherhood.
