The <a href=\"https:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201720180SB562\" target=\"_blank\">Californians for a Healthy California Act, SB 562 (Lara &amp; Atkins)<\/a>, allows us to go on offense by guaranteeing healthcare to all in California.<u><\/u><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.healthycaliforniaact.org\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Healthy California<\/strong><\/a> is a campaign comprised of organizations representing over 4 million Californians committed to guaranteeing healthcare for the residents of our state.\u00a0It\u2019s like Medicare for\u00a0All. Individuals will have free choice of licensed health professionals and services. Covered benefits will include services to keep people healthy\u2014mentally and physically\u2014as well as those services that diagnose and treat diseases. In addition to emergency services, surgeries, and hospital stays, services such as home healthcare, day care and hospice are covered. Vision and dental care are also included.<\/p>\n<p>The bill\u00a0has been crafted to provide a single high standard of safe, therapeutic care for all\u00a0California residents in a manner that is financially sustainable:<\/p>\n<div class=\"et_pb_text et_pb_module et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_text_14\">\n<p>\u2022 A payroll and income premium, which is higher for upper income earners, would replace insurance company premiums, co-pays and deductibles\u2014likely resulting in significant out-of-pocket net savings.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Choose any provider. No more surprise bills. No out-of-pocket costs for covered services.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Eliminates co-pays for Medicare Part B.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Lower prescription drug costs.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Regional planning to reduce overlap and duplication of expensive equipment and facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Provider rates will be negotiated to ensure access, cost control and high-value services.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The advances from the Affordable Care Act will be folded into the new system.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Huge cost-savings from reduced bureaucracy. No more insurance company runaround. No more bill collectors.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Diverse participants including ordinary citizens and representatives of labor and business, as well as various health care professionals and health policy experts, will advise and help design the Healthy California program.<\/p>\n<p>With the federal government again doing healthcare reform, moving more responsibility for healthcare to the states, it\u2019s imperative that California establish a better, truly universal system, which finally gets costs under control.
