Composer Nathaniel Blume recently completed a recording session for his EP, “nootbar,” featuring a 33-piece string ensemble of AFM Local 47 members at the historic Warner Bros. Eastwood Scoring Stage. The session took place on July 20, under an AFM Limited Pressing Agreement, ensuring that union musicians were central to the project’s creative realization.<\/p>\n

“nootbar,” released on October 24, is a deeply personal work inspired by Blume’s late father and the emotional landscape surrounding his struggle with dementia. The album explores themes of memory, loss, and connection through an eclectic blend of styles \u2014 from cinematic orchestration to intimate singer-songwriter storytelling.<\/p>\n

The live string session brought new depth to the project, with AFM musicians contributing warmth, nuance, and precision to the album’s sound. “There’s something irreplaceable about the human energy that comes from recording live musicians,” Blume said. “I’ll especially never forget a brainstorming session with the principals in the middle of recording the final track. Following that discussion, the musicians implemented input from the principals and captured some truly special takes that elevated the album.”<\/p>\n
