Maestro Steven Allen Fox received the Outstanding Alumni Award from his alma mater, Illinois State University.<\/p><\/div>\n
On March 24, Fox returned to his alma mater Illinois State University to conduct the premiere of his latest work, \u201cEmotica,\u201d with the ISU Symphony Orchestra under director Dr. Glenn Block. On the occasion of the concert, the ISU Director of the School of Music, Dr. Adriana Ransom, surprised Maestro Fox with the Outstanding Alumni Award in recognition of the achievements in his career, and the pride they feel in Maestro Fox representing their institution.<\/p>\n
In the program notes for \u201cEmotica,\u201d Fox shares how personal experiences led to the concept of the mulit-movement piece which has been a work in progress for him for nearly 24 years: \u201cI enjoy diving into human emotion and psychology, and to communicate a wide array of experiences, such as fear vs. triumph or joy.\u201d<\/p>\n
