The Los Angeles Philharmonic announces BTHVN on Tour, on display in BP Hall at Walt Disney Concert Hall from May 17-26, 2019 during the orchestra’s Beethoven concerts.
The exhibit was developed by DHL and Beethoven-Haus Bonn in preparation for the upcoming Beethoven year, 2020, when the anniversary of the composer’s 250th birthday will be celebrated. Walt Disney Concert Hall is the first international stop in a global tour designed to give an insight into Beethoven’s life, work, and influence and will include unique exhibits from the Beethoven-Haus Bonn collection.
The mobile exhibition consists of eight modules covering the composer’s life and work, with a strong emphasis on multimedia and interactive elements. Many of the featured original objects will be shown internationally for the first time, including an ear trumpet used by the composer and an original print from Andy Warhol’s Beethoven series produced in 1987. Items unique to Los Angeles will include Beethoven’s viola.
Alongside the exhibition and the concerts, pre-concert lectures will be available to ticket holders that will feature unique elements related to BTHVN on Tour.
The BTHVN on Tour exhibit is free and open daily; please visit The Music Center for the schedule.
I’m interested in attending. What are the particulars? Tickets or reservations required? Many thanks!
Hi Rod! The exhibit is free to the public, however the Beethoven concerts presented by the LA Phil do require a ticket purchase. Please visit the Music Center website at the end of the post for information.
