John Perett passed away as a result of advanced dementia in Portland, OR on May 7, 2024. John was 80 years old. He was born in Cambridge, MA on January 11, 1944 to Constantino A. and Patricia D. Perett.

John was a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 47 for many years. He was passionate about music and started playing drums professionally at age 15. He was incredibly talented and had the great privilege of working with brilliant musicians and outstanding, celebrated stars during his career.

John’s second passion was helping others who were struggling with addictions. Consequently, later in his life he worked as a certified Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Counselor and Supervisor for a national rehabilitation center.

John is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patricia R. Perett; his grandson Alex Timms; his sister, Constance Perett and her husband, Theodore Lengel; and numerous nieces and nephews and their spouses. John was pre-deceased by his beloved daughter, Jae Lavinder Timms, in 1991.

John’s family will hold a Celebration of Life event for him in Claremont, CA on November 9, 2024. Detailed information about his Celebration of Life will be distributed electronically in early September. We welcome all his family, friends, and colleagues to attend.

We are heartbroken and very grateful that John is now at peace.
