Congratulations to all of the talented AFM Local 47 Los Angeles musicians who worked on films honored at this year’s Golden Globe Awards! Winners were announced Jan. 6, 2019 during the live telecast (featuring an AFM Local 47 house band!).
The teachers of LAUSD are fighting for the schools our students deserve. They want to lower class sizes across all grades. They need more resources in our classrooms and to improve school safety. They want to have more instructional time and fewer standardized tests.
But the DISTRICT is saying NO to all of these demands.
Our teachers alone cannot bring about a better future for our kids. If an agreement is not reached, UTLA teachers are prepared to strike January 14. Continue reading

Months of hard work in physical therapy paid off, allowing Kevin Brandon (“Brandino”) to say goodbye to his wheelchair and move around on foot with the aid of a walker. “I can walk now because of Kaiser Permanente,” Brandon says.
Known professionally as Brandino, bassist extraordinaire Kevin Brandon has enjoyed a long and varied career full of successes.
But it didn’t come easy.
Born with congenital clubfeet and a hip displacement, Brandon has used his musical successes to support those with handicaps and special needs. He has long made it a primary mission in his life to spread awareness and assist with fundraisers in order to inspire and help those in need to acquire information and access resources to improve their quality of life. The next AFM Local 47 General Election takes place Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018.
Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Local 47 headquarters, 3220 Winona Ave. in Burbank.
Eligible voters may request a Vote By Mail Absentee Ballot by downloading the form at afm47.org/election and sending it directly to the California Elections Company. DO NOT SEND THE FORM TO LOCAL 47. Please be sure to allow ample time to send in your request, receive your absentee ballot by mail, and send it off to arrive at the Burbank P.O. box no later than Dec.11, at 9 a.m. when all absentee ballots will be collected by the Election Board.
