Hooray for Hollywood: 18th Annual Music Fund Golf Tournament

On Monday, Oct. 28, 2019, please join us at the 18th Annual Music Fund Fall Classic Golf Tournament, our biggest fundraising event of the year, for a festive day of golf, fun, and music – all for a good cause!

All funds from the tournament will be used to assist musicians in a serious financial crisis and to sponsor youth music programs throughout Los Angeles. Continue reading

40th Annual Labor Day Parade

40th Annual Labor Day Parade
& Rally Picnic

Please join AFM Local 47 at the Labor Day parade alongside SAG-AFTRA and many other unions! 

Musicians will be marching and performing at this annual celebration of labor. Help us to share our #BandTogether campaign and spread the word about musicians’ issues with the rest of the Southern California labor movement: actors, broadcasters, teachers, longshoremen, firefighters, carpenters and more.

Family, friends, kids and pets are welcome! Lots of food and festivities will be served free of charge at Banning Park at the end of the march at noon.

Please wear your Local 47 blue shirts and we’ll see you there!

NALC Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive: Volunteers Needed!

AFM Local 47 is proud to partner with Los Angeles Young Workers, AFL-CIO for the 27th Annual NALC Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. 

Volunteers are needed Mondays through Saturdays now through June 15 to help sort food donations at the Salvation Army warehouse in Bell. We have adopted Saturday, June 8 as our primary volunteer day. Continue reading

SPECIAL ELECTION TO FILL VACANCY ON EXECUTIVE BOARD

During the meeting there will be a special election to fill a vacancy on the Executive Board, currently held temporarily by P. Blake Cooper as appointed by the Board. For information on Vacancies and Special Elections, please refer to Articles IX and X of the AFM Local 47 Bylaws, available in the members section of our website or upon request from the Secretary/Treasurer’s Office.


At 7 p.m. we will present a special 10-minute screening of the new documentary MusicianFest: Never Too Old. Created by the Music Industries’ Music Performance Trust Fund, the film highlights the power of music to bring joy, purpose, connectivity, and healing to all people. It explores the paths that led the professional AFM musicians featured in the film, many who are seniors themselves, to perform for older audiences in New York City, New Orleans and Long Beach, California.
