LOS ANGELES, CA (APRIL 10, 2017) — The American Federation of Musicians Local 47 is pleased to introduce the first AFM Local 47 Lifetime Achievement Awards honoring esteemed members of the Los Angeles musicians union.
Celebrated musicians Gene Cipriano (woodwinds), Vincent DeRosa (horn), Louise DiTullio (flute), Carol Kaye (electric bass), and Dick Nash (trombone) will be recognized on the evening of April 24 for their outstanding achievements and support of the artistic community of Los Angeles.
This kickoff event is the first of many planned future ceremonies that will recognize esteemed members of the Los Angeles musicians union.
“The efforts of everyday working musicians who have created a meaningful and lasting impact on the artistic community are largely unknown to those outside of the music world,” said AFM Local 47 President John Acosta. “Too often, these wonderfully talented artists remain unsung heroes. We are excited to begin this new tradition shedding a public spotlight in recognition of these most deserving musicians.”
The awards ceremony takes place Monday, April 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the AFM Local 47 Serena Kay & Earl Williams Auditorium, 817 Vine St. in Los Angeles. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the ceremony will commence at 6:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy live jazz, and Southern BBQ will be served by the Burnt To A Crisp Texas Smokehouse food truck.
