Danita Ng-Poss’ family in Malaysia sold their home so that she could travel to the USA and study at Berklee College of Music. After earning her Bachelor of Music degree, Danita stayed in the USA to begin her musical career in New York City’s jingle industry as a studio intern. Danita worked her way up from making coffee to composing music for a worldwide ad campaign for Procter and Gamble and winning a BMI fellowship with TV composer Mike Post.
Danita’s experience with the power of collective action began when she was nearly broke and living in a cheap apartment in New York City. She helped lead her fellow tenants to organize a successful rent strike demanding proper maintenance of the building’s heat and hot water systems during the cold winter months. It was then she first learned about setting up accounts for withholding rent checks, getting support from city council offices, and what it was like to battle a well-financed landlord in the New York housing courts.
Since arriving in Los Angeles over 15 years ago, Danita has supervised music preparation on multiple Oscars and Emmys ceremonies. She has also provided music preparation for numerous other projects including many seasons of the TV shows “Dancing With the Stars” and “America’s Got Talent”; live concerts at the Alex and Montalban Theatres, The Hollywood Bowl, the Pasadena Playhouse, and the Music Center; video games including “Assassin’s Creed” 1 & 2; films including “Avatar” and “Caesar: Rise of the Apes”; and albums for Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Michael Bublé, Sara Bareilles and others.
After years of managing and supervising music preparation crews for large projects based in Los Angeles and elsewhere, Danita Ng-Poss wants to give back to the local that has supported, protected, and helped her to build a successful music career.
Danita also serves as a Delegate to the AFM Convention.
